MGSA shares usage of Legacy Field with the Minnetonka High School Softball program. There are some important items for all MGSA families to know:
The MHS Varsity/JV/B-squad season runs from early April until mid-May. MHS Varsity/JV/B-squad home games at Legacy field begin at 4:15 pm and are played to completion. Occasionally this will run up to or past 6:00 pm. MGSA games (slowpitch or fastpitch) will begin as soon as possible after completion of the MHS games. (MHS custodians and the MGSA Field Coordinator work to prep the fields following MHS games before MGSA games.)
Legacy Field 2 is where the MHS Varsity team plays. Those games can go into extra innings and are played to completion or darkness. MGSA avoids scheduling games on Legacy Field 2 during the MHS Softball season for this reason.
Due to the weather, the Lake Conference sometimes needs to schedule High School Softball double-headers. When a double-header is scheduled at Minnetonka, the particular field will be in use for MHS game until perhaps 7:00 pm or later. We will know this in advance and will cancel/reschedule any early game (slowpitch) or fastpitch doubleheader as a result
August/September: The Fastpitch Fall Ball season uses Legacy on Sunday afternoons. Field #4 unavailable to MGSA – it is in use as fall soccer field.
