General Information

  1. Keep your team webpage schedule current.  Delete practices/cage that you won’t be using.  (See detailed steps below).  The website automatically sends reminders 1-2 days to players and parents/guardians to remind them of games and practices.
  2. Cancellations due to weather: Scheduled games should be played unless a safety issue for players: lightning, very poor field condition.  There are limited opportunities for rescheduling.   Coaches: Hold off on cancelling until 4pm or 5pm in case field conditions might improve by evening.  Tell parents that unless they hear, go to the field.
  3. Cancellations by league in advance:  The league may cancel games due to field conditions or extended weather issues.  EMAIL is the PRIMARY method of communicating these cancellations.  Players/Parents are encouraged to keep their website account "Email" and "Cell number" and "Cell carrier" current, so they will receive the notices.  They should have access to the email address listed in their account during evenings and weekends.
  4. Reschedules:  It is reasonable for a family participating in outdoor softball to expect that rainouts will occur and reschedules might be done outside of the "normal" game night schedule.  Slowpitch games are frequently rescheduled for Friday nights or as double-headers on Saturdays and Sundays.  There are very few open fields for rescheduling games on Monday thru Thursday nights.  Please work with your players/families so they understand the complexities and they endeavor to make whatever accommodations are necessary to get their daughters to the rescheduled games.
  5. Legacy Field prep is done by MHS custodians and MGSA part time staff as directed by the MGSA President.  Coaches and parents shall NOT direct custodians to do field prep.   If you or your parents believe there is an issue with field prep (quality, timeliness), please do NOT direct these comments to the custodial staff.  If you have any issues, you should contact MGSA President ( ).   If you see a custodian, thank them for taking good care of Legacy Fields.
  6. Parking continues to be a challenge.  Remind your parents (and fastpitch opponents) of the ability to drop off below and park above.  Leave extra time.  There are more and more activities planned at the MHS campus facilities, including the stadium, tennis courts, Veterans (baseball) field, the JV baseball field and the upper turf field at Pagel.  There is zero tolerance of parking illegally and on grass.  Ticketing is happening frequently on the entire MHS campus.
  7. Please make sure that storage boxes are closed and locked.  We have had instances where boxes were left open during rainstorms, and left unlocked.  Our equipment is at risk of being lost or stolen.
  8. Locks are on storage boxes and scoreboard boxes to secure our equipment.
  9. Do not shut off the scoreboard by using the big switch on the scoreboard post.  The board will turn off after a few minutes of no transmission from the remote.  Just return the remote to the secure box and plug in.  Board will go off automatically.
