8U Fall Ball
MGSA enters the 3rd season of 8U Fall Ball! The objective of all MGSA softball programs is to provide a fun, learning sports opportunities for our girls and young women. The MGSA Fall Ball program emphasizes individual player development in a less competitive environment than is present during the Spring/Summer season. Fall Ball is viewed as a valuable stepping stone into the Spring/Summer season.
Schedule
League Gamess (locations determined about one week prior)
Sundays 8/23, 8/30, 9/13, and 9/20. Game times typically start at 3:30p.m. Games will be played in nearby communities (Bloomington, Edina, Chaska, etc) and some games will be played at Tonka fields.
End of Season Tournament (at Dred Scott Fields in Bloomington, MN)
Sunday, 9/27. This is a 3 game guarantee tournament. Price is included in registration.
Practices (surrounding Minnetonka fields)
MGSA Fall Ball teams typically hold practices 1-2 times per week in the fall.
Registration
Fee: $75.00. To guarantee a roster position, registrations must be received online by August 3. Registrations received after that date will be filled on an as-available basis. If registration is not sufficient to form a team, you will be refunded your money.
Equipment
Required: Black softball pants, fielder’s mask, batting helmet with cage and chinstrap, mitt
Optional: Cleats, bat
Coaches will be given team bats, catcher’s equipment, balls, and coaching aides.

While we do like to compete, Fall Ball coaches are encouraged to take advantage of situations to give players time at positions at which they may be relatively new as well as to provide roughly equal playing time to all players. We place considerable importance during both practices and games on teaching our players the fundamentals of the game. Having fun is an important factor. However, positioning players and playing time is considered when playing the state tournament, where winning advances the team.
